Survey data from the U.S. Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics 2004 National Compensation Survey found that of the eighty-five percent of workers with access to retirement plans of some type participated in [either] defined benefits (21%) or defined contribution plans (42%), or in both types of plans (50%).
