Jan Magill is Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Center for Workforce Preparation (CWP). During her six-year tenure at the Center, Ms. Magill has played an active role in the development and implementation of education and workforce models and resources for more than three million businesses
Her contributions to CWP include the development and implementation of a 2 ½ day CWP Workforce Development Leadership Course and a guide to help build the capacity of local community colleges, workforce systems, business and chambers to better meet the workforce needs of their community. Her five years of partnership development with the National Office of Job Corps resulted in Chamber-Job Corps partnerships in 23 states and increased employer awareness and engagement of more than 630,000 employers nationwide.
In June 2005, Ms. Magill managed the Chamber’s Pre-White House Conference on Aging: Voice of Business on the Mature Workforce and is currently developing two initiatives that will create replicable models for the employment of older workers at the community level. She speaks at national and local workforce conferences and seminars across the country, and works with local chambers to facilitate community workforce partnerships with the public workforce system. Before coming to CWP, Ms. Magill served as the Director of Montgomery County (MD) Career Connections, Director of the Marriot Foundation Bridges… from School to Work, in Montgomery County, and Chair of the Partners in Education at the Greater Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
She is a lifetime Maryland resident and a graduate of Shepherd University.
